Good question. Your daughter's vet knows her dog better than me, so they're probably the best source of customized information. General advice I would give anyone would be try to avoid a boarding kennel if possible (possible to have a pet sitter instead?), but if it is unavoidable, make sure they are up-to-date on their vaccinations (including "kennel cough") and healthy. If there are several options available, she could call the different boarding facilities and ask what precautions they are taking and go with the one that makes you feel most comfortable.
